I-See Pizza Website Design

Roberto Avarello runs a small pizza restaurant and delivery service on Finchley High Road and he has decided that he needs a website. He has come to you fo help. Below is a transcript of what he said to you at your meeting.

I want a site that can tell people about where we are, our service and what we do. It will have our menu on it, a map and our contact details. I don't want anything too loud or garish, it's not that kind of place.

I want to attract a business type of crowd so I want the site to look formal.

I have given you some logo designs and some images that you can use. Feel free to use other images but I don't want anything too different for the logo. You can find the images here.

I want three pages to start with - a homepage, a contact page and a menu page.

The homepage should have a welcoming message. It should include our opening times which are 12.30pm to 11.30pm, 7 days a week and that we deliver free within a 2 mile radius. We don't have a slogan yet, so feel free to put one on the homepage.

The contact page should include our phone number (020 8333 1234) and our fax number (020 8333 1235). It should also have our e-mail address which is iseepizza@foodmail.com. Our address is 123, The High Road, Finchley, London N12 8AA and my name should be on there - I am the owner and manager.

The menu page will have everything we sell but, for the moment, include five pizzas of your choice as an example. We can add more later.

Finally, navigation. I want links on every page. They should be clear and in the same place on each page.

Good luck - and I'll see what you've done in a few weeks.

The Evaluation

Once you have made your three pages, you need to evaluate the quality of your work.

  1. Using a new Word document, you need to comment on the various features of your pages such as naviagtion, images, etc. Consider why they are good or why they need improvement.
Justify your comments by thinking about what Roberto wanted and what the audience will need.
  2. Once you have judged your pages, ask yourself how well your site compares with a professionally-designed site. Look at Domino's Pizza or Pizza Hut. What do they do well?
  3. Ask yourself how you would improve your site if you had more time. Make sure you justify your comment.
  4. Finally, what comments would you make about the software that you used? What features were particularly helpful and were there any problems? How useful was the information that you were given by the business manager?
Make sure that you include your name and form on your Word document.
