Preparing Your Letter
It is important that your letter is written thoughtfully. Keep
the following points in mind:
Your MP may not know much about the issue so it is important
that you explain the situation before you start putting your
key points across.
You want to convince your MP to support your opinion, so you
should be polite and write formally. This also means that slang
is unacceptable.
As well as your own opinions, you should include the other side
of the argument. If you can put the views of others across fairly
and then explain why you think their argument is less appropriate,
you will help support your own case.
Make sure there is a clear conclusion as well as a clear introduction.
You need to find out the name and address of your MP if you
haven't already done so. You can either find this online or perhaps
through your local paper.
