3 - Using Sensors

You are going to create an automatic home using sensors. You will need the Autohome mimic.

Stage 1 - Testing the temperature

If the outside temperature falls below 20 degrees, the fire should be turned on.

Recreate the following flowchart and test it by left-clicking on the temperature to raise it and right-clicking to lower it.

Instead of using an input, we are using a heat sensor to test the value of the temperature (sensor 1). If the value is less than 20, the fire is turned on.

Stage 2 - The light sensor

Now create a flowchart that will test the level of sunlight. If the brightness of the light (value 2) is less than 50%, the lamp (output 6) is turned on.

Print your work, making sure that you have labelled your work and your name is on the sheet.

Stage 3 - Extension tasks

Modify the first flowchart so that when the fire is turned on, the extractor fan is turned on.

Input 3 is a motion-detector. If someone moves near the house and the sunlight is less than 30%, output 8 is turned on.

You can also see if you can make the garage door operate. Hint - this uses a motor that can either be turned on to run forwards, to run in reverse, or turned off.
