Entry Requirements

You should have an average coursework mark of 50% for your two projects. Below this, and your suitability for entry will be called into question. 50% for the coursework means that you are most likely going to achieve a grade D.

You can use this Excel spreadsheet to estimate your likely grade based on your coursework marks and exam performance.

The Theory

You can read the exam syllabus by clicking on this link. Everything covered in the syllabus could come up in the June exam.

Last Year's Results

In August 2005, 73 members of year 11, half the year group, qualified with a short course GCSE in ICT. The year before, the first year the course had been offered, only 20 boys took and achieved the qualification. In each year all candidates who took the qualification passed. Last year, 73% got A*-C.

Approximately half of the students in the UK who finish year 11 achieve an ICT qualification. This can be helpful when applying to 6th form or university and may also prove useful when applying for almost any job.
