Project 1A - The Cinema Magazine

The project is the same as before but the write-up has changed. You have been asked to produce an eight page magazine for a cinema. See below for the specific details.

You will need to download and complete a new write-up. This is because there is a new and more straightforward mark scheme from the exam board. If you completed project 1A last year, you will be able to copy most of your original write-up and paste it into the appropriate sections in the new template.

The new project is marked in a hierarchical way. That is, you need to get marks 1-2 before you can get marks 3-4. In other words, if you have not satisfied a particular mark requirement, you cannot move on to get any of the further marks.

You need to give your completed write-up, along with your eight page magazine to your teacher as soon as possible.

NB: Part of the project involves hand-drawn layout designs (marks 5-7). Look at the following diagrams for an idea of how they might look. Don't copy these designs - use them as a guide. You might want to consider more annotations than shown here.

The Task Brief

Your local cinema manager has asked you to create an eight page magazine that will be given away free in the cinema and distributed to local residents. It should meet the following requirements:

• It should be of a consistent presentation throughout. Stick to the same font and make sure the headings and layout of pages 2-7 are similar
• The front cover should include the name of the cinema, some images and some text that indicates the contents of the magazine.
• Pages 2-7 should include reviews of the films on show, clearly showing the titles and anything else appropriate.
• The magazine should be suitable for families.

Also, the back page should include the following:

• The cinema name and logo
• A map showing the location of the cinema
• Ticket prices
• Showing times
• Details of three films on show, including relevant images, certificates and a short line from a review of the film
